Why do we collect information?

The information we collect from you can be used in various ways, including when you register, make a purchase, subscribe to our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, browse the website, or utilize other site functionalities. Specifically, we use your information for the following purposes:

* To improve our customer service by responding more effectively to your requests and, if you enroll as a student, to provide you with our educational services.

* To manage and administer contests, promotions, surveys, or other site features.

Your personal information is safeguarded behind secured networks and is accessible only by a limited number of individuals who have special access rights to these systems and are obligated to keep the information confidential. Moreover, any sensitive or credit information you provide is protected with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

We deploy various security protocols when a user submits, enters, or accesses their information to ensure the protection of your personal data.

Please note, all financial transactions are handled by a third-party gateway provider and are neither stored nor processed on our servers, adding an extra layer of security.

Do we use 'cookies'?

Yes. Cookies are tiny files that a website or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your web browser (with your permission) which allows the website’s or service provider's systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. Cookie Usage includes tracking advertisements. For example, we use cookies for the following purposes:

* To remember and process the items in your shopping cart.

* To understand your preferences based on past or current site activity, enabling us to provide you with improved services.

* To compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions to offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

You have the option to set your computer to alert you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can disable all cookies through your browser's settings. Since browsers differ, refer to your browser's Help Menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies.

Disabling cookies may lead to some of the features that enhance your site experience not functioning correctly. While it won't drastically affect your ability to interact with the site, it may impact the efficiency and functionality of certain site features.

Third-party disclosure.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your Personally Identifiable Information to outside parties without prior notice to you. This excludes our website hosting partners and any other parties who assist us in managing our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, as long as these parties have agreed to keep this information confidential. Information may be released when its disclosure is necessary to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect our rights or the rights, property, or safety of others. However, information about visitors that does not personally identify them may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other purposes.

We incorporate Google AdSense Advertising on our website for advertising purposes.

As a third-party vendor, Google utilizes cookies to display ads on our site. The DART cookie used by Google allows for ads to be shown to our users based on their visits to our site as well as other sites on the internet. If users wish to opt-out of the DART cookie, they can visit the Google Ad and Content Network privacy policy for more information.

Implemented Measures.

We have taken steps to enhance our website's interaction with user data and advertising by working closely with third-party vendors, including Google. Specifically, we utilize both first-party cookies (like those from Google Analytics) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or other third-party identifiers in tandem. This collaboration allows us to gather comprehensive data about user interactions with advertisements and how these interactions relate to our website. This effort helps us to better understand and improve the user experience on our site.

Opting Out.

Users have the ability to control the way Google advertises to them by adjusting their preferences on the Google Ad Settings page. If you prefer to opt out entirely, you can do so by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt Out page. Additionally, for those wishing to prevent their data from being used by Google Analytics, the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add-on provides a straightforward solution to stop data collection by Google Analytics across all websites.

California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).

CalOPPA is a pioneering law in the United States that mandates commercial websites and online services to publish a privacy policy. This law extends its influence beyond California, requiring any individual or company within the United States (and potentially globally) that operates websites collecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from California consumers to prominently display a privacy policy on their website. This policy must clearly outline the types of information being collected and the parties with whom this information is shared.

CalOPPA Compliance.

In accordance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), we commit to the following practices:

* Anonymous Browsing: Users have the option to visit our site anonymously.

* Privacy Policy Accessibility: Upon finalizing our privacy policy, we will place a link to it either on our home page or, at the least, on the first significant page encountered upon entering our site. This link will clearly contain the word 'Privacy' to ensure it is easily identifiable on the designated page.

We do not deliberately target or market to children under 13. Also, we do not allow third-parties, such as ad networks or plug-ins, to collect personal information (PII) from children under this age through our services.

Fair Information Practices.

The Fair Information Practices Principles are central to privacy law in the U.S. and have influenced data protection laws worldwide. These principles are key to ensuring compliance with privacy laws that safeguard personal information. If a data breach occurs, we commit to notifying you via email within 7 business days.

Additionally, we support the Individual Redress Principle, which allows individuals to take legal action against data collectors and processors who do not comply with the law. This means people can use courts or government agencies to address and correct non-compliance by data processors.

The CAN-SPAM Act sets the rules for commercial email. It outlines requirements for commercial messages, allows recipients to stop receiving emails, and imposes strict penalties for violations. We collect your email address to send information, answer inquiries, and address other requests or questions. In compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, we commit to:

* Avoiding false or misleading email subjects or addresses.

* Clearly marking messages as advertisements.

* Including our business or site headquarters' physical address.

* Ensuring third-party email marketing services we use comply with these standards.

* Quickly honoring requests to opt-out or unsubscribe.

Do Not Track and Behavioral Tracking.

We honor Do Not Track signals and Do Not Track, plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track (DNT) browser mechanism is in place. We do not allow third-party behavioral tracking.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act).

Under COPPA, the protection of children under 13 is a priority. This law gives parents control and is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the U.S. It outlines how website operators must safeguard children's privacy and safety online.

CAN SPAM Act.

* Providing an easy unsubscribe option in every email.

To stop receiving future emails, send an unsubscribe request to info@teslamrinstitute.org, and we will remove you from all correspondence promptly.
